Guitar Strings Project

Date:Jan 16, 2013

Looking for a way to help support the greening efforts of the Broadway Green Alliance, several Broadway musicians came up with the idea of collecting their used guitar strings that otherwise would end up in the trash.  A non-profit called Wear Your Music takes the used guitar strings of famous rock musicians and makes them into lovely bracelets by rolling them and adding silver ends and fasteners. The musicians asked Wear Your Music if they would be willing to make bracelets out of Broadway strings and they agreed. Taking guitar strings and making them into wearable jewelry brings attention to the musicians who donate them, and to the idea of upcycling – finding a useful life for objects that would otherwise end up in landfill. And it provides a fun keepsake for fans. Buy yours through Broadway Cares here!
