The Spark of Creation: Repurposing Used Production Materials with Scenery

The scene: a show closes and the dumpster arrives. How do we re-block this action to cut the dumpster and repurpose the scenic materials so that they do not become landfill? Join Jennifer Kahn, Founder and Owner of Scenery, for this session that explores how this former Broadway Stage Manager has created a successful business of keeping sets out of the trash. Jennifer will use Scenery as an example to explore the unique ways that all theatre professionals can employ their creative problem solving tools to upcycle and keep production materials in rep and in use.

More About Our Video Learning Sessions

At the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic and Broadway Shutdown in 2020, the BGA sought to develop accessible programming that would keep our community connected to each other and the earth. Thus, the #GreenQuarantine Virtual Learning Series began and ended with a great run of 30 sessions led by theatre and environmental industry professionals. Now, you can explore 24 of the sessions on-demand and learn about the many ways to use your art and voice in the sustainable theatre movement!

These weekly webinars keep me active, engaged, and educated in these topics like I may never have been before. I feel more inspired and capable of making change not just in my life but also on a larger scale thanks to the information and organizations the Green Quarantines have provided.
