Juliette Maners, a recent graduate of Rider University, is the winner of the BGA’s 2025 College Green Captain Award for her visionary leadership and innovative sustainability work in theater. Since reviving Rider’s Broadway Green Alliance Chapter in 2022, Juliette has transformed it into a thriving, student-led organization with long-term impact.

This year, she established Rider’s first BGA Executive Board, allowing for greater collaboration and continuity. She created tools such as Green Talk templates, pre-written outreach letters, and post-show surveys to simplify and strengthen the Green Captain process. Juliette also launched the Green Captain Spotlight series on Instagram to recognize student leaders.

Her hands-on projects include:

  • Diverting over 100 lbs of partially used batteries from waste through a partnership with the Sound Department.

  • Collecting over 75 towels and blankets for local shelters in her “Towels for Toto” drive.

  • Leading a Dog Chew Toy-Making event using donated costume scraps, resulting in 40 toys for shelter dogs.

  • Hosting an educational exhibit at ArtBeast on waste tied to alcohol, drugs, and e-waste, using crafts and games to engage students.

  • Producing Rider’s third Earth Day Cabaret, featuring eco-themed performances and poetry.

Juliette is also a Certified Climate Reality Leader and has represented BGA at events like Stars in the House for Climate Action and Broadway Celebrates Earth Day in Times Square. She exemplifies how sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into arts education, theatrical production, and community building. Juliette’s legacy at Rider continues through the strong foundation she’s built for future Green Captains.
